Enabling Reuse of Carpet Tiles and Raised Access Flooring

A project exemplifying material reuse.

Developer British Land highlighted the use of our MagTabs on the Kingdom Street project in its Sustainability Brief for office fit out.

Their latest project at Sheldon Square also used our reversible fixings to support reuse and minimise waste.

With the raised access floor professionally cleaned and prepared for its next life, MagTabs and Tab-It were used to keep it damage-free for future installations.

A perfect demonstration of how flooring designed for disassembly today means materials can be lifted, reused and reinstalled – without damage, waste, or unnecessary cost in the future.

Reuse In Action

Contractor Explore Tiling & Flooring used a selection of our reversible fixings to install both Luxury Vinyl Tile and carpet tile on-site.

Tab-It was used to install Tarkett looselay Luxury Vinyl Tile. These double-sided tabs are ideal for installation onto most common prepared sub-floors, including concrete, plywood and as an overlay system.

MagTabs were used to install around 3,000 sqm of reused Milliken carpet tiles. These used tiles had been refurbished by Encore by Design to look good as new once installed.

Encore by Design’s professional carpet tile reconditioning service restores used tiles to “like new” condition using Europe’s only water-tunnel cleaning system, capable of processing 80-100 sqm per hour.

The advanced deep-cleaning process removes embedded dirt, stains and allergens, as well as indentations from furniture and partitions.

On average, 40-50% of uplifted carpet tiles can be diverted from landfill, saving both cost and embodied carbon, with an estimated 8kg of CO₂ saved per m² of reused carpet installed.
